Sensational reggae artists Rebelution, Stephen Marley, and Common Kings are bringing their signature sounds to the Mattress Firm Amphitheatre!
Stephen Robert Nesta “Raggamuffin” Marley was born in Wilmington (Delaware) in 1972 but was raised in Kingston, Jamaica. He’s the son of reggae legend Bob Marley and Rita Marley and made his debut single (Children Playing in the Streets) when he was only six years old. He and his older brother recorded the charity single in 1979 and the profits went to the United Nations to aid its efforts during the International Year of the Child. The single also marked the beginnings of Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers; a band led by Ziggy that also included his siblings Sharon, Stephen, and Cedella (with Stephen playing a supportive role as a guitarist, singer, and occasional songwriter). Stephen wanted to explore his creative interests unrelated to the group and decided to get acquainted with music production. His love of hip-hop and R&B was displayed in his production work with renowned acts like the Fugees, Eve, Krayzie Bone, and Erykah Badu and also had the honor of being the executive producer of 1999’s Bob Marley remix compilation album, Chant Down Babylon. The album's success encouraged the young producer and he went on to release 4 studio albums, numerous singles, and win 6 Grammy Awards.
